William Cronon, the Frederick Jackson Turner and Vilas Research Professor of History, Geography, and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, spoke to the British Academy on the future of the disciplines of history and geography, and the “hybrid discipline” of historical geography, with an emphasis on the political-economy of scholarly publication.
